I've given the name of Synergistic Agriculture to the adaptations that i had to make to Fukuoka's Natural Agriculture that it was necessary to do so as to secure a regular vegetable production in climates with limiting factors of cold & drought. The advices that will be posted in this file are part of a book written in french & waiting for publication. STARTING FROM SCRATCH If the field had been previously plowed it may have a plough pan that needs to be broken up before anything alse. This may requiere a subsoiling machine. If the land has trees & bushes: identify them so as to leave some of the belonging to the legume family.Cut the trees as low as possible to impair their regrowth, if there are eucaliptus previous the cutting cut a circular band around the tronc deep enough to reach to the circulating sap & let the tree die before cutting so as to ensure that they won't regrow. If it is covered with all kinds of "weeds" &/or thorny vegetation, slash & set some pigs (with easy to move electric fences)&/or chickens,by destabilizing the spontaneous plants there will be an easier implantation of the cultivated ones. SUPPRESSING WILD PLANTS WITH GREEN MANURES Green manures are always cut or rolled over & never ever incorporated into the soil. What we are looking for are plants that in the shortest amount of time will grow the maximum of aerial & root mass. Before deciding on the choice we must know the Ph of the soil & have the information on rainfall patterns (not only the quantity, but when it rains)
